J. Sharon Camilletti

I moved to Melbourn with my husband in 2001 when both our sons were at university. We had lived in Cambridgeshire for three years when the boys were small and it was always our intention to return. I was already working in Cambridge and my husband’s main office was in north London. Access to fast trains and the motorways, alongside a typical English village that still had village shops, a surgery , post office and thatched cottages made Melbourn an obvious choice for us.
I am a post-graduate teacher having gained my Teacher’s Certificate from London University and then my first degree. I subsequently went on to study for an Advanced Diploma in Educational Studies (Special Educational Needs) at the University of Cambridge School of Education and a Masters in Special and Inclusive Education whilst at Trinity Hall. I am also a trained mediator.
I have taught in secondary, middle and first schools in London, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. I have held a variety of posts in Local Authorities including that of advisory teacher and more recently as head of a range of support services, including a hospital school. I am currently manager of a county-wide support service for parents of children and young people with special educational needs. I will be leaving this post shortly to offer more education consultancy work
Through the work that is to be done for the Melbourn Village Plan I am hopeful that a
stronger sense of community involvement will grow which will further improve the village and ensure that future developments reflect the needs and requirements of everyone in the village.
