Mike Sherwen – Publicity Officer

Moved to Melbourn 1967 because of job change, 3rd child imminent so bought house in Hale Close with view to upsizing later, still here, house extended and kids have all left home so will be here a bit longer!

Two girls, one boy, all went to Melbourn Primary School, then on to the College and all now live fairly locally so we are on frequent active grandparent duty.

Have run my own engineering supply and consultancy business since redundancy in the recession of the 80′s and am now semi retired.

This has allowed me to become involved in village activities, ie. parish councillor since 2004 and now Village Plan member.

I believe these are two very important inputs as Melbourn has developed so much over the last 25 years but has not seen a corresponding gain in facilities. The MVP will create this possibility.

Melbourn has so much going for it but lacks focus for various reasons partly due to its size. The MVP will be this focal point as one main objective of the Plan is to develop an active community spirit.
