Bruce Huett – Project manager

Born in 1945, I am a recent resident of Melbourn, having arrived in the autumn of 2007. I live in a small 17th century thatched cottage in Rose Lane and enjoy spending the weekends exploring the local countryside. I have become involved with several local groups: the photographic club, the Mel River group, the allotment association, the Melwood Group and Meldreth local history group. I am also a member of the U3A. However I also appreciate the opportunities offered by the proximity of Cambridge and the easy access to London cultural life.
My career spanned a first degree in biochemistry, a period as a professional theatre director, qualification as an accountant and then management consultancy until retirement theoretically in 2007, although I still do a bit of ad hoc consultancy. Currently I am also assisting members of the department of social anthropology at Cambridge University in research on Tibet and the Himalayan region.
I have become involved with the steering group because I am keen to ensure that the village retains its unique character, but also has a vision, built from the widest possible input, of how it can develop in the 21st century through understanding and then tackling the challenges which this community faces.
