Speed checks
In your village and others around, there is a huge problem with vehicles travelling at excess speed usually during the rush hours. We would like to take this opportunity to ask if there are any times and locations were you feel we need to be concentrating our speed checks. When completing a check, the location needs to follow the criteria of being half a mile away from a sign that displays the speed limit. It also needs to have either a lay-by or footpath so a PCSO carrying out a check can be safe and the speed limit cannot be higher than a 40 mph zone.
The following checks have been completed in August so far:
Whaddon, Church Street – One car was caught speeding out of eighteen
Melbourn, Cambridge Road – Four cars were caught out of fifty eight
Meldreth, Whitecroft Road – No cars were caught thirty eight were recorded
Shepreth, Meldreth Road – Four cars were caught out of thirty two
Foxton, Fowlemere Road – Three cars were caught out of thirty seven
Steeple Morden Hay street – Four cars were caught out of seventeen
