Practical Solutions Group

Melbourn’s Problem Solving Group has, for the last couple of years, been looking for ways to reduce Melbourn’s anti-social behaviour problems (ASB) .

The Group has learned that there are many practical solutions our community can consider taking to reduce these problems but this requires a change of emphasis and approach by everyone.

It’s clear that to achieve these goals the group needs the community to be more involved and it was thought that the groups name should be changed to reflect its aims and ambitions.

So the groups new name is The Practical Solutions Group. It’s hoped that this will broaden its appeal so encouraging  wider participation in finding solutions to some of our problems.

The PSG  has a website so for more information about the group click on link in the menu bar.

Police station closure

The police station is now closed. A new purpose built base will be built on the Melbourn Village College site and should be open sometime this year.  Unfortunately, our community policing team will now be based at Sawston, this will result in less police time spent on duty in the village as booking on and off shifts will  be done at Cambourne and travel time to and from Melbourn will be time spent on shift.

Until the new base is completed the mobile police station will be at Melbourn Village College every Friday from 3pm to 5pm  to enable you to meet one of our policing team officers. However, there will be no officer available for the Fridays of 12th and 19th March.
