Welcome …

The Riverside Park is bounded to the south by the course of the meandering River Mel. Because of its chalk bed, it is of great importance for the conservation of wildlife potential. The Park is characterised by areas of coarse chalk grassland, pockets of scrub vegetation and trees, a remnant orchard and large areas of damp marsh associated with the river. The archaeological remains of the 14th century Trayles Manor House lie in the south of the Park.
A series of habitat and access improvement works were undertaken in 2007. The works provided informal footpaths and a boardwalk, meadows, new tree and scrub planting, riverside access and new orchards. The site is now managed to provide a quiet amenity area for the local community and a diverse range of wildlife habitats.
