The Melbourn History Group welcomes requests from people trying to trace ancestors who lived in Melbourn. However, we would like to emphasise that none of the Group are genealogical experts and do not have the resources of a certain TV programme that seem to find ancestors with great ease!
The web has a number of excellent genealogical websites such as findmypast.com or Ancestry.co.uk and we recommended that you first check these sites for information. You can also contact *Cambridgeshire Archives and Local Studies or **The Cambridgeshire Collection at Shire Hall who offer a research facility and will be able to research their archives more efficiently than we can.

If we receive a request, we refer firstly to the Melbourn History Book to see if much is known of a particular family and if time permits, we will visit Shire Hall Archives in Cambridge to look up the records.
All of the team are busy people with many other interests and such visits can only be undertaken as and when time permits. Expenses for such visits are kept to a minimum but we suggest a donation of £25 to cover transport and time spent in the archives, which can sometimes be lengthy”.
The History team are currently putting together the church records which we hope to make available on this site as soon as possible.
