Parish Council elections will take place if needed (that is if more than 15 people step forward) on 6th May 2010

Papers to apply for the post are available from SCDC from 1st March 2010 and must be submitted to SCDC before 12 noon on the 8th April 2010.

There are 15 councillor posts available within Melbourn, anyone who wishes to become a councillor on the Parish Council must apply by the dates above, if there are only 15 persons standing or less then they are automatically elected as per law. If more than 15 then an election must take place.

To qualify you have to be:

  • A British citizen, or a citizen of the Commonwealth or the European Union.
  • Be 18 years or older on the day you become nominated for election

You cannot stand for election if you:

  • Are the subject of a bankruptcy restriction order or interim order
  • Have, within five years before the day of the election, been convicted in the United Kingdom of any offence and have had a prison sentence
    (whether suspended or not) for a period of over three months without the option of a fine.
  • Work for the council you want to become a councillor for.

Meetings of the Planning Committee are normally held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month at the Parish Office commencing at 7.15 pm. Council Meetings are normally held on the fourth Monday of each month at 7.15 pm at All Saints’ Community Hall.
